The certified areas at Santa Fe Community College are Automatic Transmission & Transaxle, Brakes, Electrical Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train & Axles, Suspension & Steering.

This program will prepare students for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Students that graduate from the program will receive the necessary skills to be a more employable person in the automotive industry. The classes at Santa Fe Community College are small, with a maximum of 20 students, which gives each student the chance to work more with the instructor. The program offers State-of-the-Art facilities and equipment and highly qualified instructors with industry experience

The Automotive Service management Technology program at Santa Fe Community College is a 2-year Associate of Science degree program that will give students the knowledge that will prepare them for employment in the automotive industry. Students will be given classroom and hands-on instruction using the latest technology and working on the latest vehicle models.

The Automotive Technology program will teach students about the subjects of Fundamentals and minor repair, Brake systems, Steering and suspension systems, Engine repair, Electrical Systems, Automotive Electronics, Heating and air conditioning systems, Engine performance, Manual transmissions/drive trains, Automatic transmissions and transaxles, Parts and service, and Drivability diagnosis.

Courses

The sequence of courses in the program are:

• 1st Term - Automotive Fundamentals & Minor Service, Automotive Electrical Systems, Applied Mathematics, and Cooperative Education.

• 2nd Term - Automotive Steering & Suspension Systems, Automotive Brake Systems, Fundamentals of Physical Science, and Cooperative Education.

• 3rd Term - Automotive Engines, Automotive Parts & Service, College Composition, Cooperative Education

• 4th Term - Automotive Electronics, Automotive Heating & A/C, Human Relations, Life and Work or SYG2430 Marriage and the Family, and Cooperative Education.

• 5th Term - Automotive Engine Performance, Automotive Drivability Diagnosis, Technical Communication OR Workplace Ethics, and Cooperative Education

• 6th Term - Automotive Manual Transmissions/Drive trains, Automatic Transmissions & Transaxles, and Workplace Ethics.

A.A.S Degree for Automotive Professionals

Santa Fe Community College also offers an A.A.S Degree for Automotive Professionals. If you are already an ASE certified technician, students can be on their way earning an Associate of Science Degree in Automotive Technology from Santa Fe Community College.
